Welcome to Rivendell House
Tucked in a quiet corner of one of New England's loveliest villages, Rivendell House blends traditions of European hospitality with the welcoming warmth of a New England homestead.
Built 140 years ago, the house has seen many changes in use and layout while still retaining its New England farmhouse charm.
Rivendell House is the perfect setting for a quiet retreat from your busy life. Come for a romantic getaway, or use us as a base for exploring the treasures of Western Maine and the White Mountains. Rivendell House can be a home away from home for families visiting Gould Academy during a special weekend, or the Bethel Camp for the Arts, or professionals attending a summer session of National Training Laboratories (NTL).
We'll welcome you with afternoon tea, and we are always available to suggest activities, such as finding that perfect antique, following a scenic trail in the White Mountain National Forest, or canoeing on the Androscoggin River. Our house is only 10 minutes by car from both Sunday River Ski Resort and Mt. Abram, and even closer to several cross-country ski centers. We especially look forward to preparing a full country breakfast for you and can easily accommodate special dietary needs. Check out the Rivendell Breakfast page for recipes and pictures of the tasty treats we’ll make for you.
